Calling all tomato (red) faces!

Ok, I have a confession...

My face turns beet red pretty much every time that I workout. I'm not talking about a healthy pink glow, but more like a bright red. It's especially worse if it happens to be a hot and humid day, which in Michigan is most of the summer. It's sometimes to the point that it's embarrassing and I can feel people staring at me with a worried expression like I'm going to stroke out.

It sucks. I feel fine when like this, but it's more of an annoyance than anything else.

As if having people constantly be worried about you and questioning if you're alright isn't bad enough, it last forever! After a long run or cardio workout the red sticks around for hours. It's to the point that I have to make sure to allow enough cooling time afterwards to let my face get back to a normal color before heading out in public or going to work. Trying to put makeup on after a red faced workout is pretty impossible too.

This is barely a glow compared to the normal (only after a warm-up).
The only thing that I've found that helps is splashing my face with cold water continuously afterwards and standing in front of a fan on high. I've seen lots of cooling towels/hats lately that you freeze so maybe one of these days I'll give those a try. I'm digging the weather lately because the cool weather seems to knock down the redness a notch or two.

Are you a fellow tomato face?
Have you tried any of the cooling towels or hats?

  1. I'm a total tomato face! Everyone in Body Pump thinks I'm about to pass out or have a heart attack. Nope,it's normal. I've tried all of the towels, but with no luck.

    1. Isn't it annoying sometimes having to calm everyone's fears that you're not going to stroke out? Does yours take forever to get back to normal color too? I am loving the cooler weather right now because it's helping a bit with the coloring. lol

    1. I'm pretty used to it anymore, but there are times that it can bug me a bit. I'm sure I notice it more than others though.

The Wayside is still up and busy every Thursday night! That was our hangout freshman year...lol. I actually have moved now and live downstate in Fenton, but Mt.P stil has a piece of my heart. Where in Michigan do you live now?

  4. I'm a fellow tomato face, but not so much when exercising (i don't do too much of that! lol!) but simply from being outside, getting fresh air, working on the flower beds, etc...then coming inside the house! BANG! Beet red!! So red, people think there's something wrong! Same thing when i drink a few glasses of wine, or have alcool...to the point where my face feels really hot.
Oh, and if things are stessful at the office, pressure, etc... I turn red too... It's embarrassing when you are a manager and your employees ask you if you are ok!? ugghh....

    1. It's annoying right? My dad is the same way so I'm thinking that maybe it's just a genetic thing as well. Sometimes when I drink I get that way too.

  5. I'm not too tomato-ey but I do stay a nice shade of dark pink for about an hour after I'm done working out. I also get the comments once in awhile and agreed it is quite annoying. :(
